In this gut wrenching finale of the duology, Milan tells a story of friendship, sacrifices and the power of hope.
Immediately after finishing Ignite The Stars I jumped right into this one. I finished it in less than a day. I was gripped and hooked in our characters' journey.
We got to know Ia's backstory and we are also granted a view of each of the character's endeavors. They are not perfect people. They're actually far from it. They've committed a lot of mistakes and heavy decisions. We have witnessed the struggles and the hardships they've been through throughout the books.
This book's tone is definitely darker than the first one. The stakes are higher and therefore the humor from the first one was dialed down. I miss the banter between our characters though.
It stayed through to its core. The character dynamics, the thirst for justice, and hope all played their part in this book.
The phasing could have been better. For the huge amount of the book it was fine but some parts felt rushed and dizzying.
Can we talk about the ending? Frankly, I think I'll be needing a moment or two to process all of it. If you have read the book, it doesnt matter if you like or dislike the ending, it will definitely get you thinking. And I guess that's really the goal of stories right?
